Right amount of detail
I have been looking for a book on genetics and kept finding grade school level books. I didn’t want to spend $$ for college level textbook and found this book to be just what I wanted. Enough detail, written for someone that wants to get a good overview of a complex subject.

I hate this book
When I first read a book on DNA in the 90s it was akin to a religious experience. Wish I knew what it was. In college I read textbooks on the subject. Twenty years later I thought I’d brush up, and while this book has the info, the way it is delivered is terrible. Constant asides that are not funny, referring me to other sections in virtually every paragraph (even to the stuff on the previous page), and then jumping into the full-on jargon of molecular bio…it just doesn’t flow. Low quality paper too….

Great book to get (re) acquainted with genetics concepts and language.
I got this book because I found myself, as a software engineer, working with genomics data and wanted some context so that I could understand the domain language a bit better without committing to a deeper learning path (more intense book or an online course).Bits of the book were a refresher of things I learned in high school -- but forgot --- and a few chapters were specifically targeted at my business domain. I found this to be a helpful orientation book, and now feel like I can decide what, if, and when I need to learn more about the subject. This is an approachable read, but not superficial. Worth a look if you wanted to get (re) acquainted with genetics and you are not yet sure what areas you want to explore deeply.

Very informative!
I am really enjoying this book. The first half or so is on the science of genetics and the latter half on how things go wrong and how knowledge of genetics can help overcome some of those problems. The book is well written so that the concepts are readily understood.

Genetics for Dummies as a Guide
Genetics for Dummies is an easy to understand guide to genetics from a biological view. It exposes many of the professions related to the genetic field and expands on the role of genetics. The scientific models are accurate, clear, and complete. I would say it a must read for any medical field engineers.

Good introduction
Some of it was hard going. But I know a little more now.

Accurate, easy to grasp but not trivialize the topics
It gave the essence of genetics but did not make it too difficult to understand. Some good illustrations
