90128MI Shelf Link 4' L x 2' W

I wish I could have found these years ago, or at least when they first came out if they haven't been around that long. I've cobbled together shelves in my garage out of particle board, tried the metal shelves you have to put together and most of those are a joke. Then I found these! Just in time too, since I just had a new 12'x20' garage workshop built and I just finished building a 10'x10' storage building with the tall barn style roof. After my garage workshop was built the first thing I did was use the 2x4Basics Sawhorse kit to build a nice pair of sawhorses. Since I could make them as big as I needed and wanted, and since I'm 6'4" tall I made them 36" high and 4' wide. Then laid 3 2x4s across them with a sheet of 7/16" 4'x8' OSB sheeting on top of that. This made the perfect worktable at the right height for me to use while I finished the inside of my workshop and then built the 10'x10' storage building. I've used the shelflinks to build two sets of shelves in the storage building and they turned out great! I found it works very well with using only the two outside 2x4s for the shelves and screw down a 16" wide strip of 7/16 OSB sheeting on them. On a 8 ft long by 7 ft high set of 5 shelves this way they come out about $8 to $12 cheaper. Depends on where you get your lumber. Of course they wont hold as much heavy stuff but for lighter things that are taking up space they work great this way. And compared to the metal shelves you put together yourself, with umpteen tiny screws and nuts, these are way better and a lot cheaper. A set of these 8' long with 4 or 5 shelves will hold more than 3 sets of the metal shelves and cost about half or less than the metal shelves do, and are a lot stronger and better looking too! Besides being way easier to put together! My next project with them is to build the workbench and shelves kit for my workshop. I did the ones for my storage building first to learn the best way to put them together. After building my workbench I'm going to use them to build a stand for my 1014 Jet wood lathe. And then a stand for the new flat screen TV I've been wanting to get. Then I'll probably find something else to use them for. I just hope they don't raise the price on them! Like my dad would have said, "these are the neatest thing since popcorn!"

I have these as well as the workbench legs. I like the workbench legs a lot better. Shelf links are pretty good, I would give them 4 stars if they gave you decent screws. The included screws are garbage, save yourself some frustration and replace them. Also, it's not clear from the pictures but the brackets overhang the 2x4 shelves a bit. Overall they are pretty sturdy, but rack a bit along the direction of the shelves.

The brackets are a good design, but not made use as standalone shelving. This limitation was not an issue for my use since I attached them to rafters. Over all I like the the design.

Made some 6 foot shelving across the back of my storage shed with this kit. I didn't use the screws that came with the kit though, the heads stripped too easy. The 2x4 construction makes the shelving very heavy duty. I like it so much I bough 2 more kits.

Not having read the fine print was my mistake. Looking at the picture and for the price, I was expecting to get 6 pieces. Was I surprised to get only 1. Lesson learned to ensure that what you think you are ordering is actually what you are going to get. Do not recommend ordering from this dealer again as this is very misleading.

Product does what it purports to do. My wife used the shelves to place her potted plants upon. She is very happy and has urged me to build more!

I bought the shelf link kit to build shelves under my steps in the basement. They are easy to build and very sturdy.

Totally worth it, fun and easy to put together, looks great when done, totally solid and can take the weight.
