MacBook Pro fixed!
So pleased I found this on amazon. We've had issues with our MacBook Pro for some time now, freezing etc, but then one day it just didn't boot. I looked up this issue online and it turned out this was a common fault with this particular model. The cable arrived promptly, but despite the detailed instructions from the seller I hesitated to change the cable myself, and opted to take it to a local repair shop, who charged just £15 for the job. Genuinely grateful for the seller making this available on amazon - Apple couldn't/wouldn't help since this was a 'vintage' model...

Just the job
i had a MacBook Pro with a HD problem and, after removing and testing it, I found it perfectly alright. I took a chance that it was the Hard Drive Cable and went for this one as it had the IR Sensor already attached. It meant it could be swapped easily without having to fiddle about removing the one from the old cable, The whole process took less than half an hour to complete and the MacBook was up and running again. The replacement cable comes with sticky strips attached to reseat it.

Better than the Apple original part, because it works!
I bought my 2012 MacBook pro from Apple's refurb site around the time they discontinued that model (I wanted a built-in DVD burner). During the last year or so, I've had intermittent problems with data loss, random crashing, and very slow start-ups. I replaced the HDD with a SSD, thinking that would speed things up, but the problems persisted. Running Photoshop and Firefox at the same time seemed too much for the MacBook; starting up was incredibly slow for a SSD, and previewing images with QuickLook guaranteed the spinning beachball would appear after 7 or 8 images, locking me out for a couple of minutes. If you have a 2012 MacBook pro and it suffers any of the problems above, I recommend replacing the internal SATA ribbon connector. It also serves the sleep light/sensor and the IR receiver, so it's worth spending a little extra and getting the one with the bracket on the end... it reduces the risk of damaging delicate parts during fitting. My machine is now a joy to use... very quick and very reliable.

Good product. A cheap, easy repair.
I had initially thought the ssd in my mid 2012 MacBook pro was faulty as It wouldn't work when in the laptop but would work as an external drive. Decided to replace the hard drive cable first as I'd read the stay be the problem and having done so everything working again.Easy to replace - about 15 minutes, and having the IR sensor included means less to change. This is a good product and was deliver quickly.

Easy to installation and works perfectly!!!
I had upgraded by MBP with SSD. However it was super slow and I thought maybe my old cable was faulty. I was right and my Laptop is super fast now. And its easy to install as it comes with the bracket so you won't have to worry about breaking the infrared sensor & led ribbon cable.
