He is credited with robbing over a dozen a banks and accumulating over $300,000 in stolen money (several million dollars if inflation is factored in). To keep himself and his gang well-armed, they would commonly rob police stations of their weapons and armor. Dillinger was gunned down on July 22, 1934 by FBI Agent Charles Winstead.
